A Desk Abroad

As a writer and wanderer, all sorts of things wander or march, dance or trip, across my desk. These are some of them.

"In Bohemia" by Arthur Symons

DRAWN blinds and flaring gas within,
And wine, and women, and cigars;
Without, the city’s heedless din;
Above, the white unheeding stars.

And we, alike from each remote,
The world that works, the heaven that waits,
Con our brief pleasures o’er by rote,
The favourite pastime of the Fates.

We smoke, to fancy that we dream,
And drink, a moment’s joy to prove,
And fain would love, and only seem
To love because we cannot love.

Draw back the blinds, put out the light;
‘Tis morning, let the daylight come.
God! how the women’s cheeks are white,
And how the sunlight strikes us dumb!

Buckets of love at the nursery. I just want to lie down in the hydrangeas and laugh at their big beautiful heads.

Paper cut shadow boxes by Hari & Deepti

They have always been drawn towards the imaginative aspect of story telling and seek inspiration from them.

frostinhisbones said: I think in Leviticus it says if someone drinks beer with the word "light" or "ice" in the name, you have to stone them to death. Unless they're your friend, then you ritually purify them with craft ales. No need to look any of that up, I'm an expert on beer-related Judaic theology.
